Just an ordinary background. Iowa born and bred, AA degree from Southeastern Community College, BS in Chemistry from Western Illinois, Ph.D in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Iowa, postdoc appointments at the University of Alabama and Wesleyan University, now working at the Duracell Technical Center in Bethel, CT.
